Hey everyone, Stone here, and it is the day of love. It’s the day that women love and men groan over, but guys we need not to groan! We too have feelings and that is ok. We can love, and feel, and stuff. It does not mean we will lose our man cards. It simply means we are human. Or at least pretending to be in the cases of those of you out there from Saturn. So I thought it woud be great today to share the most man friendly love movies of all time to watch with that special someone. Enjoy!

10- The Time Traveler’s Wife – This movie is not really fair as this dude totally manipulated his future to get the girl. Mad props to him for thinking of it before the rest of the man world did.

9- Up – Granted it was only 5 minutes, but has there EVER been something so moving? I think not. An entire lifetime of love told quite so beautifully. It draws you in and makes you so sad for Carl.

8- Eternal Sunshine For The Spotless Mind – Some romances go bad, and what if you could erase those painful memories? Would you? Pyro can do it for you for a buck fifty and some Cheetos. This is one of those movies that I love the way it is presented, trying to save your memories you hastily desided to remove. It makes me sad to think this woman would do so much damage to this man that he would go to such lengths. All you hear from women is how they want the good guy, yet things like this happen all the time. Why don’t women just admit they want jerks so they have something to complain about to their friends at work?

7- Water For Elephnats – This is a fantastic book and an equally fantastic movie. There is something about the backdrop of a corrupt circus that just marvels me in this love conquers all story. It is just amazing and beautiful.

6- Across The Universe – Take the Beatle’s songs, make them tell a story (ala Moulin Rouge) and bam you got a hippie love story that actually works! Yes, hippie love. Did they do anything but that back then? That and wear really ugly colored clothes.

5- Romeo+Juliet – THE CLASSIC LOVE STORY! What’s not to like? Star crossed lovers? Check. Feuding Families? Check. Fights? Check. Violence? Check. Tragedy? Check. Plot Twists? Check. Seems to me this movie, which is the basis for many, many love films after it, has it all.

4- Beauty And The Beast – I did not give this Disney movie much of a chance when it first came out as I was still on a Little Mermaid high. Don’t judge me. I ‘d like to say it was because I was still on the adrenaline from the Carsel Run, which is this amazing cross dimensional race, but honestly I was not. Beauty and the Beast is the love story for guys. It shows us that no matter how ugly we are, someone will love us, even a hottie like Belle. And let’s face it guys, we are pretty rough around the edges. But then the Beast gets all pretty and stuff in the end crushing ugly guy’s spirits everywhere. But fear not, we actually hunted him down and disfigured him for life in revenge. And Belle still stuck with him, so the moral of the story stays intact!

3- Titanic – Wow, the beast that is Jack and Rose is something you don’t think could be topped. When I saw Titanic for the first time I had no idea what I was going to see other than a movie about a sinking ship, but I got far more. I enjoyed this movie in my bachelor days, but oddly enough I find most women just don’t enjoy it as much as a love story as they do these other films. I will forever remember the stupid girls sitting beind us who were talking before the movie started saying how they hoped the boat did not sink this time. Honest to God I wanted to reach around and slap some smarts into them.

2- Moulin Rouge – The only reason this is NOT number one on my list is that honestly there is no other option for the number one movie, seen next. But Moulin Rouge is my favorite love movie of all time. It is a bright vbrant world around this tragic love between a Bohemian and a Cortisan. They use well known music in new ways to just make this spectacularly bad ass musical that I can sing by heart. Man that makes me sound sad, but I ain’t got no shame in it. I love this movie so much. It is simply beautiful in so many ways.

1- The Notebook – If there was any movie out there that proved you are now in a committed relationship, this would be it. It is hands down THE couples movie. It may as well be listed on your man card as a requirement to watch with the one you consider a keeper. And it really is not all that bad. Yes I said it. It is not. It is really rather sad and touchy feely and good all in one. It simply is the ultimate chick flick and watching it with someone you love is well worth it.

So how did I do? Let me know in the comment which movies you love that tell a story of love!

  1. Where is “P.S I Love You”? That movie should have been on the list… Other than that I totally agree

Never saw it. I guess it should be on my list for the future, but who knows. I had almost forgotten Sunshine on this list. Need to rewatch that one soon.
