Six amazing years of giant robot fighting action and more to come! Wait, fighting robot action? Yes. And there is not many experience like it anywhere.
Our story with Mechcorps began when we first launched Clan Of The Fanboys. See, ChimaeraCon was about to happen and Il Paladin is pretty good friends with those guys, and so is MechCorps. So I started talking to the MechCorps group. Though we weren’t at ChimaerCon, we all still talked and planned. And then Kris started Texas ComicCon and I figured how awesome to see the MechCorps guys there so I introduced them to one another. Match made in heaven if you ask me. So one thing led to another and BAM I found myself face to face with Muerte and the rest is history!
You see, when I started Clan Of The Fanboys, I really didn’t know what I was doing. You see all these internet fan groups out there and divided communities. It was like everyone stayed within their predefined fan circle. I wanted to make a community. I wanted to find groups and just all work together for the greater good of fandom and do great things together. Little did I know how fateful that Texas ComiCon would be. I met some amazing friggin companies out there like us. And MechCorps is one of those.
You see, they are just awesome. there really is no other way to put it. We love these guys, all of them. And they are not stand offish. They have fan fingers in a little bit of everything but what glues them together is Battle Tech. Which is good cause their virtual pods run a Battle Tech game. I had no idea what I was in for when I first sat in one of the pods. There are buttons and levers everywhere, the screen is an awesome glass-less 3D thought of long before the 3DS. I couldn’t even walk forward. Just backwards. But it was awesome. I will never forget the awe inspiring experience it was to play this for the first time. Each time since has been just as awesome, and watching these guys pull off the impossible moves (and head shots on me which are unthinkable cause I never lose
) is quite a feat.
But most importantly is the feeling of family you get when you are there. For us, we love our trips to Houston to see them cause we never want to leave. It is an adventure each and every time. Hell they ended the party one night with a car driving through the wall. Trust me, they know how to have a good time. And they were with us through our growing pains as we figured out what we were doing and became pretty damned good at it. We even lost the footage from one of our trips and they said hell, come on back. And we were on our game that day believe me. We have filmed some skits for Fanboy TV with them, laughed at Cars 2 after Texas ComiCon, gotten Battle Tech history lessons, seen inside the Battle Tech treasure chest of collectibles, seen the inner workings of those awesome pods and just had one hell of an awesome friendship that I for one truly treasure, as do the rest of the League. So we are pleased to wish them a happy 6th birthday.
Now you just have to watch out. One day we won’t suck so bad in those pods and we will beat you. Although we did that one game where we were all little robots that looked like R2D2 slept with a trash can. WE DOMINATED YOU!!!! Never forget that. One day, we will do it again. We will school you yet.
Saving...
